The activity of Honda in Spain began in 1986 with the acquisition of Montesa, Spanish motorcycle firm. Honda Automobiles Spain SA (HAES), a subsidiary of the automobile division of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., was established in 1988. Today, headquartered in El Prat de Llobregat (Barcelona).
